Why Horizon English School?
Founded in 1989, Horizon English School is a non-selective, private primary school in the heart of Jumeirah. One of the oldest schools in Dubai, we offer British curriculum education to children aged between 3-11 years. Although we now have almost 1,200 children enrolled at Horizon, our commitment to children and our ethos of child development through engaging, innovative learning, has remained the same.
At the start of 2021, we became part of the Cognita global family of schools, a British education group with global reach. We were also voted ‘Happiest School in the UAE’ in 2021 in the Top School Awards by schoolscompared.com – something that we are very proud of as it reflects the happy environment here in the school.
Facilities
All Horizon students access high quality resources and facilities including: state of the art sports facilities; 2 libraries; 2 swimming pools; outdoor tennis/netball courts; art studio; recording studio; computing room; performance hall; and STEM Room. Children from Year 3 upwards have access to their own iPads for various purposeful learning activities.
Our classrooms are bright, modern and cheery, and each year group has its own central area, offering additional space and learning opportunities for the children. Toilets are also provided within each individual year group.
Health & Safety
Horizon has an on-site Clinic to support the students and staff of the school. We have one full-time doctor and two full-time nurses to support this essential function, and to ensure that high standards and cleanliness and hygiene are observed. Our team of cleaning professionals work throughout the day to ensure that all our working spaces are clean.
After School Activities
Horizon offers children a range of After School Activities (ASAs) which are included in the annual fees. Activities include: running club; netball; football; athletics; arts & crafts club; computing club; rock band; music production; choir and swim squad (both by invitation only).
Extra-Curricular Activities
Horizon is delighted to also offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities led by several reputable external providers: Tennis; Ballet; Football; Rugby; Gymnastics; Swimming and Art Club. There are also multi-sports camps, tennis camps and an art workshop which run during school holidays which is particularly useful for working parents.
Cognita’s own sports programme, EnrichME, offers Cognita students high-quality Football and Swimming lessons at value cost.
Progression After Horizon
Your child is eligible to apply for any secondary school across a variety of curricula, however we are delighted to now have a transition in place with our sister schools Horizon International School and RGS Guildford, Dubai, allowing Horizon English School children an established, easy and worry-free route to a British curriculum secondary school.
